South Dakota State University is a member of The TLT Group which has helped over 500 educational institutions and corporations around the world to improve teaching and learning by making more thoughtful use of information technology. They offer information resources, tools, services (training, coaching, presentations, online workshops) and a unique perspective. The TLT Groups strives to help individuals and institutions identify and achieve their most important educational goals while embracing new practices and avoiding "rapture of the technology."

One of the primary activities that SDSU participates with is the use of the Student Inventory and the Flashlight Assessment Tools.
