ElluminateWhat's new in Elluminate 9!

 

South Dakota State University has a campus-wide license for Elluminate Live. To be eligible to use the Elluminate Web Conferencing System as faculty please complete the Elluminate Web Conferencing System request form. All non-faculty should complete this request form for staff found on Insidestate. For more information about how you can use the Elluminate Web Conferencing System as faculty, please contact IDS.

SDSU has campus-wide license for Elluminate Live 8.0. It's free to all users. However, users need to aware of cost associated with the hardware to run this applications such as speaker, microphone, webcam, Internet connection... Below is what's recommded for Elluminate (need to plug in these USB devices before running Elluminate):

In order to use Elluminate, you will need to have the minimum technology requirements specified below:

If you are using a laptop, or if your monitor/computer has a built-in microphone, it is recommended to not use these. Instead to use an external microphone, which will ensure that you can be heard clearly by all other participants (plug in external mic before running Elluminate).

Additionally, the instructor/moderator of your session may require a web video camera so that you can participate using streaming video.  If this is the case, Elluminate supports the cameras listed at this site: http://www.elluminate.com/support/faqs/camera_supported.jsp. The best place to start if you have question on how to use Elluminate is to visit their support site:

If this is your first time running Elluminate, or if you have any questions on how to use specific features, start by visiting one of Elluminate’s orientation sessions.  These can be found under step three on the support page:

If you are having any of the following technical problems with Elluminate:

If you are having difficulties accessing Elluminate between the hours of 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM (Central) on Thursday or Sunday, this may be because Elluminate is performing maintenance.  Please try and access Elluminate after these hours, and if your problems persist, proceed with the steps below.

First, visit the Elluminate support site:

If you receive a message similar to the following, then proceed to the next step:

If you receive the following message, you will need to install Java:

To do so, click on the “Download and install the required software,” and follow the instructions provided.  If you continue to have issues, please proceed to the next step.

If you are not currently on the Elluminate support site, please return to it:

Under the second step on the support website, click on the “Configuration Room” link as shown below:

Follow the instructions provided in the Configuration Room, and if you continue to have problems, proceed to step 3.

If you are experiencing issues outside of normal business hours (8-5 M-F), please contact Elluminate’s support at (866) 388-8674 and select option #2.

When contacting Elluminate’s support, you must identify institution (SDSU).

If you are a student at one of the SDBOR universities, and do not know your home institution—e.g. you attend the University Center in Sioux Falls—please use the following steps to obtain this information:

  • Log into WebAdvisor.
  • If prompted, click on the “WebAdvisor for Students” link.
  • When the WebAdvisor “For Students” screen appears, click on the “My profile” link under “Academic Profile.”
  • Find the “E-mail Address” section.  The email address marked as “Primary”—usually the first in the list—indicates your home institution.  The table below shows the email addresses for each institution:

Where do I go for instructor/moderator training? (top)

The best place to start if you have question on how to use Elluminate’s instructional/moderator tools is to visit their moderator training site. Students can check out more training info. online. To complement their printed moderator training documents, Elluminate provides a host of recorded sessions detailing how each tool in Elluminate functions.  For example, if you want to learn more about breakout rooms, Elluminate not only provides a quick reference guide for this topic, they also provide recorded Elluminate sessions detailing the use of breakout rooms. Additionally, SDSU Support Desk provides additional support and training for Elluminate.
