Welcome back! I hope you all had a great holiday break. Before Spring 2009 classes begin, I would like to share some information on D2L, training opportunities this Spring, and emerging instructional technologies you may be interested.
Below is list of links and resources for D2L:
I would recommend you update your browser Java plug-in (http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp) to avoid some viewing problems in D2L. I personally suggest you try Firefox as a faster browser (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) based on our D2L users’ experience. D2L could be used in many areas to enhance your teaching like posting teaching materials, managing students roster, delivering online quizzes, organizing online community, and leading online collaboration and discussion. This is the place for SDSU teaching and learning community. Please move or copy your teaching related files from TEACH/LEARN server to your D2L courses.
I would strongly encourage you to attend D2L training or other trainings. If you cannot attend scheduled in-class training, you may walk in or attend online training via Elluminate. Starting from this week, D2L Overview in two hours training is available for the first three weeks. After these weeks, one hour long training on five different D2L topics is scheduled. We also scheduled Tuesday Noon Webconference from Instructional Technology Council (http://www.itcnetwork.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=169#Top%20of%20Page). All of these training sessions are scheduled in SPC105. Please check this Training Schedule link for more details: http://ids.sdstate.edu/Training/schedule.cfm. Please mark Feb. 25th & 26th on your calendar - 4th Annual Teaching with Technology Expo 09'.
Below is list of emerging instructional technologies we support for your teaching. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting one of these for your teaching.
Again welcome back and IDS is ready for the new semester. We’re looking forward to working with you soon. Please feel free to stop by our office (Pugsley 101) or let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!
