Course Design, Best Practices back to top
HTML, CFM, DOC, RTF, TXT, CSS, PDF??? There must be a way to power me over the mountainous challenge of document creation for online use. See how to make the best use of web pages, Cascading Style Sheets, Word documents and Portable Document Format files.

Faculty Development Opportunities, Provided by The Teaching Learning Center (TLC) back to top
This session will cover faculty development activities offered by the Teaching Learning Center, such as conferences, the discussion series, learning communities, and others.

How Can a Technology Enhanced Classroom Support Your Teaching? back to top
This session will provide faculty with the opportunity to learn what technologies are available in technology enhanced classrooms, how to use these to enhance teaching, and where they can receive support and training.

How to handle copyright protected teaching materials - eReserves back to top
The Hilton M. Briggs Library offers a system designed to let faculty easily make documents available for students while securing the documents with a password. The system, called Electronic Reserves, has been successfully used on campus for over five years. You can learn how to provide lecture notes, assignments, homework answers, study guides and readings to your students without incurring the cost of copying them

Increasing Online Class Quality back to top
This session will be an introduction to QM, Syllabus & Learning Objectives. It will focus on self assessment of an online class and also include a review of the quality assurance rubric.

Is Your Course Universally Accessible? back to top
Learn the basics to designing an online Internet-based course that is accessible to all students, including students with disabilities.   Find out the services SDSU provides as well as some of the best practices to use.

Is Your Online Quiz Safe? back to top
WebCT Quiz Tool (Lockdown Browser) is employed by many instructors because of its convenience and ease of management. Some quiz settings can provide security for most assessments. Respondus Lockdown Browser provides another powerful tool to deliver secured quiz online. Respondus LockDown Browser is a customized browser that increases the security of test delivery in WebCT. When students use Respondus LockDown Browser to access an exam, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications.

iTunes U back to top
Have you heard that SDSU is an iTunes Unviersity?  You can learn more about iTunesU in this session! First we will explain how to create and convert audio files, and then you will learn how to upload those files. You will also see how to use the SDSU portal and what iTunesU looks like to the designers and the users.

Managing WebCT Quiz/Tests Using Respondus back to top
Respondus is a third-party test creating tool that SDSU licenses as a supplement to WebCT. It is easier to crate tests in Respondus than in WebCT. You can easily import tests that already exist in Microsoft Word files into Respondus and quickly publish them to WebCT. You can quickly copy tests in WebCT for selective release to students. StudyMate, from the same company, can present test material as crosswords, flash cards, or other creative formats.

PowerPoint Best Practices back to top
Microsoft Powerpoint can be a great tool for teaching. It has many formats for delivery, which can stand in the way of students getting the information that instructors are attempting to provide. Impatica offers a safe and reliable journey through the PowerPoint minefield, and it works for both PC and Macintosh platforms. See how Impatica can make your PowerPoint delivery more effective.

Research Survey Options
This session will provide a brief overview of different application availabilities.  Options for SDSU faculty include WebCT, Flashlight, Snap Survey Software, and SONA.  From questionnaire design to final analysis, each of these options has different capabilities.  You will see how easy they are to use, how to set it up, and what you’ll need to build a paper or web questionnaire.

Spice up Your Curriculum Using Instructional Multimedia back to top
If you want to learn how to use multimedia to enhance your classroom or WebCT courses, then this session is the place for you! We will introduce you to the process of capturing and converting video for use on DVD or streaming. You will learn where this can be done here on campus and who the people are that can help you.

WebCT Gradebook Management back to top
The gradebook can be an extremely important tool in WebCT; it can record grades, calculate scores and deliver a grade to each student individually. This session will demonstrate how to manage columns to enter grades. It will demonstrate how to manipulate entered grades, grades from quizzes, grades from assignments, calculate the grades, and release them to students. Downloading the gradebook to Excel and then importing it back into WebCT using a .csv file will also be demonstrated.
